Seems The Edge has another White Falcon... (Go Edge !!!)

http://www.u2.com/highlights/index.php?hid=459

I think you have to be a U2.com member to see that video.

I am not sure of the vintage (Yet!). It looks to be a mono, and not stereo model. One might assume the original stereo 1962 may have drowned in the flood.

Here's a not so great screen capture...

Anywho... Hope he brings this one out on tour!

GO SEE CHEAP TRICK! They might not pack arena's any more but always do a great show. Fun band - highly under-rated.

I WANT YOU. TO WANT ME. (starts riff)

Aside from Rick's five neck, bassist Tom Pettersen is know for using a twelve string pretty regularly.

Random questions for Jeff, both of which are REM related.

1. Did you prefer them with a 6 piece touring lineup, to the current 5 piece format?
2. Whats your favirote song by them? (Mines Orange Crush)

REM were great as a 6 piece with Ken Stringfellow. They are just at great as a 5 piece with Bill Rieflin on drums and Scott McCaughey (pronounced like McCoy) on second guitar and some keys.

Favorite song... the "Green" album was my favorite for ages. "The Wrong Child" is an amazing song.

As for favorite song, that's tough because like U2, that can change over time. "Sweetness Follows" and "Nightswimming" from A4TP are pretty great. Begin The Begin from LRP is great... "Life and How To Live It" from 'Fables...' is pretty great...

After a bit of research...

Seems that this guitar is a 1965 (or near) vintage.

Looks a lot like THIS one - which is a 1965:

Does anyone else find Snow Patrol guitarist Nathan Connoly's technique seems atleast somewhat Edge inspired?

I dont suppose you know if,

a. The sunburst strat on the JT tour was diffrent from the current one?

He sounds a bit like he's heard a few U2 records.

There are a couple of tones on the new Coldplay record that are very "Edge-like".

I'm surprised to not hear a bit more U2 like tones out of Radiohead, as Ed O'Brien (Radiohead) is a huge fan. Be interesting if Eno/Lanois worked with Radiohead (or R.E.M.!!!)

Allegedly Nathan is a big U2 fan. I heard somehwere when he was 16 he waited in line for hours to have Bono sign his Zooroopa cassete. You have to be a real fan to have that one. ( I unfourtanately dont. Shame, it has some good songs. Stay rules!!!) Coldplay has always sounded a bit like U2 but with more piano. Chris Martin claims he can list every song in U2's catalog. Also, Radiohead rules!

- It appears to be the same. Per Guitar World interview in 2005, it is a a 1962.

Here's a pic of the Vertigo tour tobacco Strat.

Here's a pic of the Elevation tour tobacco Strat.

Here's Edge playing the 1962 during The Joshua Tree tour. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" during the Syracuse show. You can see it pretty good at -- 3:36-3:41 into the following video:

And this from Paris 1987:

Here's Edge with a cherry sunburst (w/maple neck) Strat that he used during some of the Fall 1987 shows. The YouTube video listed below is of U2 playing Bad at Syracuse:

I'm going to have to get back with you on this one... I am still trying to decipher 'what is what' in the world of Black/white Stratocasters... Edge has more than one and has had probably dozens over the years; most of which are 1970's models. I've heard 1971 and 1973 thrown around. I am hoping to get some information from Dallas about the all black and black and white Strats.

I think I know what you mean, although I'd say it's more a case of elements within his style than any particularly standout influences
