    I have been a fan since 1993 and I really, really, really love U2

    I love to spend my spare time teaching myself all of Edges guitar parts on my acoustic. Until the End of the World (at Slane) is my favourite. Spiritually, emotionally, musically & physically (blood sweat & tears on the guitar I mean!)

    I was born 10th May 1979. In 2000, I found out that Bono wrote Out of Control on his 18th Birthday. I then tried to do the maths hoping that it was on the day I was born, but then realised, damn, it was the previous year. This was following me realising that at least he turned 40 on my 21st. Not that I am a numbers man or anything.

    I would just like to take the time to stick up for the Edge!!! Every now and then I hear comments that the Edge is overated because his guitar playing is not that exciting. I would like to say as a musician that this is a load of rubbish!!! There is a difference between playing huge intricate solos in higher octaves which anyone can practice in a garage to get right and being able to produce a riff or a sound that can change a person's life or relate to another person's situation. This is what I believe should be what rates guitarists. When Bono mentions in the middle of Pride at the Slane concert, "This is our love", this is what I believe he is talking about. Edges music may not always have a hundred finger movements every second but the sonic quality of his music is just phenomonal, like no other, and it is this that moves me and what makes him unique and in my mind the "best ever guitarist". I hope others agree.

  2. G'day Andrew, welcome to the site. I think Edge is one of the best guitarists ever - as do many of us.

    UTEOTW on Slane 2001 is awesome, I love the ending to it with the massive riff. So you've come at a great time, because Remy has redesigned the entire site and it works a lot better - heaps and heaps of new features.

    than 5 months old during Sydney!

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention, after missing Pop (due to unforseen circumstances) and then Elevation because they simply didn't end up coming, I've only ever been to one concert - U2 Vertigo, Telstra Stadium, 10th November 2006. You could therefore imagine my pain & concern when the March date was postponed. Don't worry I understand & agree the postponement was for a much worthy cause than myself.

    Oh yeah, and that new version of Kite was awesome live.

    One Edge in the world? Well, physically he is, but he must be from out of this world...that man is simply Amazing. Anyway totally agree with everything you guys just said.

    I play guitar and love just to play U2 songs(and some other artists)
    Tomorrow actualy I'm going to buy my first electric guitar-Fender original then I will play U2 songs with help of Guitar Pro program
