BTW anyone likes Dire Straits here? I'm a big fan, but nowadays this great band is a bit forgottten...

you'd never heard of them. They were huge. Get yourself their Brothers In Arms album (it's always on sale) or download the song 'Walk Of Life'. great little tune

01 - U2
02 - Dire Straits
03 - The Police

That's the mythic trylogy.

For good DS songs, get "Tunnel Of Love", "Romeo And Juliet", "Money For Nothing", "On Every Street", "Walk Of Life", "Brothers In Arms" and "Sultans Of Swing".
7 mythic songs. Awesome.

I was about to say the exact same thing! Great song with Bono on top form. I'd also add Wish You Were Here.

Shiver from Coldplay, actually the music could perfectly be from U2(that intro is much Edge-like IMHO) and they could give it the rock it lacks in some parts.

Black, Light Years(this could be a snippet on an All That You Can't Leave Behind, especially on Kite, the lyrics are that kind), Even Flow, Better Man from Pearl Jam.

Blackbird and In My Life from The Beatles.

Blackbird and In My Life have both been given lengthy snippets during U2 shows

I Don't Like Mondays
Come On Eileen

It's A Long Way To Tipperary would be a great cover.
