1. Does anybody have the correct version of One Tree Hill and Exit? I have the version off of my Joshua Tree CD, and a friend
    gave me a copy of his iTunes Joshua Tree and it has the same version. I know it's official material, so if anybody has it
    could you send it to me? nate.meadows@yahoo.com

    Thanks!
  2. What do you mean, correct versions? Are there more versions of this song? I don't think so.

    Well, certain versions have the end of One Tree Hill at the beggining of Exit. Sort of an error I guess.
  4. Newer versions of The CD are supposed to have that fixed but I guess mine doesn't.

    That's funny. I don't have it, never heard of that either.

    Listen closely next time you hear them. It's really weird!
  7. There seem to be lots of pressing issues with U2 albums. Here's just a few.

    =======================================================================================

    Which seems to be related directly to this.

    The extra music is found on early vinyl pressings of Boy. It was removed from later pressings of the vinyl and does not appear on any CD pressings of the album. The music itself is a short 25 second instrumental track with a very low volume in comparison to other tracks on the vinyl. It sounds like an early version of the track "Fire" which appeared on the October album.
    =========================================================================================

    Is this the problem with the JT 'correct versions' as I am not too sure but my first paragraph is what I think you are talking about?

    You mean that One Tree Hill is placed before Exit? That's how mine are, and all my albums have weird pressing mistakes. For example, my version of the Boy album has Shadows and Tall Trees, then some other 30-second track at the end.

    There is an editing problem with many copies of The Joshua Tree. At the end of "One Tree Hill" there is a moment of silence and then the song comes back with the lines "Oh great ocean, oh great sea, run to the ocean, run to the sea". The silence before this track has created a mastering problem. On some copies this section of "One Tree Hill" is included at the start of "Exit" instead.

    In the correct form "One Tree Hill" runs 5:23 and "Exit" runs 4:13. This is a widespread problem with pressings of The Joshua Tree on CD, and is far from 'rare'.

    Does everyone have this, because I know I do. Scared the crap out of me when you have the album fully up.

    If you leave Zooropa playing for about one minute after "The Wanderer", you will hear an alarm going off. This is the same alarm which warns radio DJ's when there is a 10 second air silence. Some editions of Zooropa don't have the DJ alarm at the end -- the Brazillian pressing, for example.

    Haha! I bet the one with Zooropa did scare the crap out of you!
  9. I guess what I mean by correct is the "Rare" version without "Oh great ocean" at the beginning of Exit.
  10. Bloody oath it did. But I originally thought you meant that they were in the wrong order, but I do have the 'Oh great ocean, oh great sea' part on mine. Though I have no idea how my copy was sourced because I bought it from some guy on eBay.
  11. The CD of The Joshua Tree which my parents have owned for a long time (bought about 1994) has the beggining of Exit with the final part of One Tree Hill.

    I think it was some kind of electronic track detection, since at the end of One Tree Hill there is a silent, just before of the "Great oceaaan" part.
    The machine could detect it and split as a different track. That's the only explanation possible for me.

    Just thought I'd update people on this situation. Yesterday I bought the "fixed" versions of One Tree Hill and Exit. So
    if anyone wants the corrected version, it can be bought from the iTunes store.
