1. During the European leg of the Vertigo Tour, U2 had to take stage in daylight because of curfew?!? WTF mate?

Is this relatively new? Cause it sure as hell wasn't around during PopMart, and thank God for that!

Is it all countries or just a few?

Thanks for enlightening a curious American soul
  2. yeah i always wondered about that too... in from Cali so idk but i think they do... if its true that would suck
  3. well it depands on where you live in europe ...
in greece it's getting dark at 8:00pm but in holland where i live round about
10:00pm .(in summer the time )
so as a said earlier ...after teen numbers of playing by daylight it was dark enough
to youse the big video screens ...
they did already play with the lightshow but halfway true the show as cobl arraifd
    the screens went on .
that's why i like indoor shows more ......
  4. I attended the show in Amsterdam at 16/7 and the one in Munich at 03/08. In Amsterdam indeed the first songs were played with daylight but in Munich one month later it was totaly dark at the beginning. In my opinion you can say something for both....Electric Co. @ Amsterdam was amazing with daylight for example....but in Munich the show exploded at the beginning with the Vertigo Lightshow....at least I'm blessed to see it both....
  5. I don't know about other countries. But in Germany most communities give the order that outdoor concerts must end before 10:00 - 10:30pm. That's because of the noise neighbours might perceive as a disturbance. You'll have to pay a rather huge fee if you break these rules without permission. I think that's why most bands start playing during daylight in summer...
  6. They were given a curfew at Twickenham, you can here Bono mentioning it at the start if Yahweh. Same with the last Croke show. The police had to give them permission to play 2 extra tracks
  7. They must off had a curfew in Manchester 14th June 2005,came on in daylight hence bootleg called "A Light First Night In Manchester".The back video screen was barely visable until first encore approx 9.50pm BST.
2nd night got permission to come on a little bit later maybe by 30 mins & I think the set was a little bit shorter by 1 or 2 songs.
  8. all this because a lot of people may have to walk out of a stadium in low light levels. Heaven forbid

  9. In Gothenburg, Sweden it's 11:30 pm I think. The Vertigo show started 9.30 pm and ended 11.45pm, so it was a little bit overtime.

  10. in amsterdam the started to play at 8.45 pm and ended also at 11.45 pm .
But the amsterdam arena is in the working centre of the city so there are no neighbours
who has to complain about the noise .
this was the show on 16 of july 2005 . the show on the 13ejuly 2005 started also at 8.45 but ended earlier
    at 11.15 pm .
U2 decided to play an half hour longer and played a show with 27 songs minus arcarde fire .
I was at this show (where they played miss sarajevo for the first time since years )and it was
the best show i ever saw from u2 (and i saw them 8 times before )

  11. In Belgium, there's no such thing as a curfew
The stadiums (or halls) are built for this things so no complaining from neighbours or something...
+ If they play indoor, the hour isn't important ofcourse...
  12. I don't really mind a curfew, they're forced to start early then which is often a good thing.
With so many people traveling with public transport it's a real pity if you have to leave early to catch the train. Just listen to the Arnhem Elevation soundboard, during One many people had to leave the concert to catch the latest train. If they just started earlier everyone could've finished watching the whole concert.
