is city of blinding light better as the opening song for the Vertigo Tour or is it better down later in the setlist??? i want your thoughts... personally i like it better as a opener... the big intro is outstanding and it lights up the whole place... and bono popping up out of nowhere is awesome to!!!

i always wonder about that when I am making a playlist... I LOVE IT as an opener it seems wrong when its later on I don't know why but it seems like a strange show thats why im not a big fan of the European legs of the Vertigo Tour. -_-

Hi friends

I love that song and I'd rather this song as a opener because when The Edge starts to play his guitar I feel something that I can't explain....I think that COBL is one of the best songs to open a show!

Greetings from Brazil!!
See you FRIENDS!!

It's pretty good, however nowhere near as good as Zoo Station Mofo or Elevation......all fast and furious kickers. The audience is most excited at the time that a band first takes the stage. When they use a real straightforward, down-to-earth song to open it is a catalyst to the audience's mood and usually makes for a better time...................................if you know what i mean

true agree with both of u but i think as far as the Vertigo Tour goes COBL is the best

i reckon it'd be awesome at the start of an encore... it would still have the same effect as being an opener and they could still have the big intro into the song...

yeah it should be the 'start' of something but i wonder how it would be as a closer?? the live version from Milan doesn't sound that bad as a closer when i put it in a playlist....

yeh... and i reckon the band could drag it out a bit longer as a closer too... maybe another edge solo on the cards (aka Kite on the aussie tour)

that'd be cool especially since the last verse would be a cool closer . i like how u think

If I do setlists, this is how I have it 9 times out of 10.

Or, occasionally I have it as a 1-2 double whammy to end a show with Streets (COBL >>>>> Streets = )

This might sound strange but I've always considered City of Blinding Lights the sequel of Where the Streets have No Name. I don't know why, they both have chilling openings, both are epic and sweeping but while the first deals with optimistic and maybe even naive ideas of freedom, the second is a lot more, jaded, experienced and accepting. Does anyone else see this connection?

Anyway, like Streets, its a fantastic opener but I would like to see a show ended with Streets and lead into COBL as an Encore start...

Did i even answer the question or ramble off on some completely different point...?
