just got a 80g ipod vid. and would like to know of a software to get my dvd's onto the ipod. or if anyone has anything already to go onto the ipod video(u2 related) that would be great also.
thanks in advance....
I'm currently searching Google, something on the order of "Convert DVD to iPod." A lot of stuff comes up. I haven't tried this myself, so I don't know how good any of the guides are firsthand, but the above link seems to have a lot of info. I'll post further if I get any more good returns.
If you go to the link I sent before, this is the first option that comes up. I just read it and it's a pretty solid guide if you're using Windows. All the programs you need are freeware.
I use Videora ipod convertor, but only manage to convert each VOB file seperately. I use YAMB to connect the converted VOB files into a single file... Results are fine, small blip where the files are joined, but not bad at all.
If anyone knows a better way i'd love to hear it too.
I'm running a Mac so I'm afraid I don't know of compatibility with Windows but I use a two-step process to get video's on my iPod:-
Firstly I use Handbrake (I've not time to get the links but search Google and it should come up) to get the DVD on the computer (this will take a fair bit of time depending on the length of the file). This format will run in Quicktime or through iTunes but not on the iPod. There are also a few sites that give you hints on which settings to use.
I then use iSquint to convert the DVD file to iPod. This can also be used for video downloaded off YouTube etc. It's pretty self-explanatory. And relatively quick....
That's all there is to it. I've used this for Slane and ZooTV on my iPod with no problems.
