What would've been nice on the Vertigo tour is rather than just the 'Achtung Baby' style encore they did (Zoo station/The Fly/Mysterious Ways) would've been to alternate it as and when they felt with a Pop Mart style encore say something like Mofo/Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me/Discotheque (I'd've put Please in there but I'm not sure if it'd fit at that point in the show. Particularly being so close to One)

Vertigo tour gets my vote as well generally, as they always seem to be quite varied and interesting.

I agree that a PopMart style encore is good, I mean I didn't know until recently that Discothéque featured on the Elevation tour lol, so they clearly weren't previously averse to playing traditional Pop era music outside of the PopMart tour.Gone being another example aswell, although that, to me, could fit into any tour because it's definitive U2 stuff, unlike stuff such as Mofo and Discotheque which have influences from other styles of music, e.g. the bassline loop on Mofo and the techno stuff that went with it. Please wouldn't be played because of the middle 8 lyrics being too close to the events of 9/11, even though it was written well beforehand (Bono mentions it in U2 by U2).

However, I think that we may well see a throwback to Pop on the next tour, although I hope they still retain the mainstays on the AB era too. I was going to say that Vertigo is my favourite tour setlists-wise but then I realised there's a pretty good reason for that - they had their entire discography at hand to choose from! So it was always going to have more variation than any other tour...

i loove this song. then again i can't name a U2 song i don't like. i'm sort of a U2 apologist.

i really like the beat. it's fun to sing along in the car.

me too!

I think Vertigo had great encores because they changed them up quite a bit. UTEOTW was a great encore, It worked great with the "mama" bit but i think that hearing that crazy ass intro scream breaking through the silence/encore applause would be a great way to do it too!

Great version of The Fly, BEST version of UTEOTW on the whole tour (including Bono putting on an Arny voice for "you know I love ze element of surprize" - absolutely classic), then into WGRYWH just like the days of ZooTV (even if Edge does some odd impro. on the solo, but nonetheless, the fact they gave a great song a great solo is good enough for me!), ABOY rocks the place, great versions of Yahweh and Party Girl and then to really kick everyone out with a hole in the head, a rip-roaring rendition of Vertigo.

Absolutely fantastic.

You kinda tempted me to download this gig...

Seems WoiBHoy started a download queue lol. Also just grabbed it and will listen to it later today!

My first guess for a favourite encore would be 1990 01-10 - Rotterdam simply for the awesome intro talk before "Angel of Harlem". It's so funny what Bono says about the good old encore thing ... and the other songs

When Love Comes To Town / In The Midnight Hour (snippet) feat. BB King
Love Rescue Me
11 O'Clock Tick Tock
Out Of Control
40

aren't bad as well with Love Rescue Me being one of my 'hidden' faves, and Out Of Control at such a late part of the show.

And Thanks to Santos I'm looking completely differently at Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car now
