1. We have a new You Too poll, you can vote for this new poll on the frontpage and discuss it in this thread.

The question of this new You Too is:

You Too: What themes or style would you like U2 to explore in their rumoured 2024 album?
    - Return to their rock roots
    - Experiment with electronic sounds
    - Address themes like climate change and other social challenges
    - Collaborate with diverse artists for a fresh sound
  2. U2 returning to their 'rock roots' has been their supposed goal throughout the 21st century (minus No Line). I'd like to see them experiment with electronic sounds more-- 90s albums (and Leave Behind) were more interesting because of this.

Not to mention, I don't really like U2's specific 'rock songs'. Pride-- eh, Vertigo-- ughh!!, Sunday Bloody Sunday-- I'll pass. But Heartland, Zooropa, Bad, Lemon,-- sign me up.

I'd love to see them return to their 'Eno/Lanois working relationship roots' more than anything. Even No Line had potential to be one of U2's very best, with that team.
  3. Rock rock rock rock and another rock!!
  4. Personally, I’d like them to return to the simpler style they had during the first trilogy of Boy + October + War. Stop over-complicating songs with multiple instruments, layers, sounds and effects. Just because the studio offers 128 channels doesn’t mean they all have to be used. Maximum minimalism would sound fresh again after decades of over-production and perhaps bring back some spontaneity to the live shows.
  5. U2 had said that the next album, rock and guitars, would be annoying. We as true U2 fans cannot compose U2's songs. That's what's interesting about how they develop pieces of music over time.
  6. I just wish they would release Songs of Ascent, if it takes another "back to basics" "guitar" album then I'm fine with that.
  7. That little snippet of Soon from his book and Mercy would be good songs to look at as models. So I guess I want them to just stop thinking bad release that rumored completed Songs of Ascent that’s supposed to be ready at any moments notice.

Otherwise, I don’t think Atomic City is a bad choice to model the next album after- which they’ve said it will. But I don’t want more American Soul. I want more Acrobat and Gone. Hopefully these Achtung shows have put them back in that direction.

    This x100
  9. Rock ( Dad Rock )?

    God no!!

Please not a 'balls to the wall' guitar album ( boots , the miracle etc boring as batshit ) and for the love of god bring Eno and Danny back ,

I know it won't happen as they seemed to burn those bridges with the duo during NLOTH but one can dream!
  10. Don't collaborate with people like Ryan Tedder.
More rock and experimental pieces like Soon, Fez/Being Born, Are You Gonna Wait Forever, Book Of Your Heart, etc - turn on the amps and do things that sound out of place, but in the future and out of the now.
While it may be years old now, I'd love to hear what they could do with Amorphous Androgynous, 90s Chemical Brothers, maybe PJ Harvey-esque tunes with abstract lyrics.

And for the love of all lack of trying, no more America!!! There's other places in the world!!!
  11. Electronic sound, more of Zooropa and Pop.
The rock roots have been their goal almost the whole time since year 2000.... Which only result in Parent Rock music.

Bono's voice is too lacy the last years, so his voice wouldn't do a rock album justice; would result in a album with ten Atomic City songs.
Bono should use his low deep voice instead and a more Electronic sound would fit that well.
  12. All of the choices could end great or terrible (except for the last one, it would be terrible at all lol) and we have examples of all of it in good and bad way....
As for collab, I wouldn't want anyone from mainstream, it would be cool with some alternative artists.
