Grace, it's a name for a girl
It's also a thought that changed the world

I think it always depends on the one who listens if the lyrics are considered good or bad....it's the same with poems, some like them and some don't. In my opinion., you can't say in general that a song has bad lyrics only because they don't do it for you. On the other hand, I personally adore the lyrics of Yahweh, for example, while others roll their eyes when they hear that song it's as simple as that

and while we're at it.... this line from "Trying to throw your arms around the world" came to my mind yesterday: "a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bycicle" --> that one is weird for me now

I hate One Step Closer (lyric and music).
Red Light has also bad lyrics, in my opinion, and the same goes to Is That All?...

Is That All? - can't say I can remember much of the lyrics, but I like the riff lol same as that for Cry, and because that sometimes prefixes Electric Co. I like it muchly. You guys obviously wanted to know...

Lyrics wise, Elevation isn't exactly T.S.Eliot but considering it's got the same subject material as a lot of your classic '80s rock stuff I'd say it's not that bad lol. I mean, look at Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me", even though I love the band and that song, the lyric material is similar and the lyrics themselves work on similar lines. Nothing spectacular, but they've become hit songs...face it, the world likes sex lol (most of it does, anyway...)

Getting out from under my bed, now
I'm going to say the things I should have said, now
Getting closer
Getting closer to what's true
Gonna find myself in you

You know there are some reasons why some songs don't get on album

BTW "Time" part in COBL is just fantastic, fits perfectly into song, in my opinion.

I think they're pretty legendary lyrics myself lol - vaguely meaningless but you have to give Bono credit, one of the few lyricists in my view who can get away with using onomatopoeia in hit songs lol, or good songs anyway, e.g. Discothéque, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (hey hey sha la la), Daddy's Gonna Pay... etc.

Even Better Than The Real Thing... Love the song, and mostly the lyrics are awesome, but the line:
'You're free to fly the crimson sky, the Sun won't melt our wings tonight'
Talk about cliché!

It is, in fairness, a B-side.
