Performance

Really strong show!! Everyone sounds sharp. The only two fumbles of the night actually improve the show: Edge has a technical problem starting Bad, so Bono freestyles over the synths, and at the start of Gloria, Bono is nowhere to be found (sounds like he might be out in the crowd) so the intro is extended and the song runs quite long, over 6 minutes.

Bono does the ending of Wire a little differently, almost like the typical John Lennon snippet but something else - maybe improvised? The Unforgettable Fire is expansive with some really interesting sounds, particularly around the 'red wine' bit and the instrumental break. The energy on the War songs is impeccable. The Electric Co. is very exciting, a bit twangy. There's an issue at the start of Bad; Bono sings what is listed as a snippet of Time Is On Your Side - HOWEVER, I concur with previous reviewers in saying it's quite clearly Elvis Presley & America. Once Bad gets going, Bono shines like a star. Edge is on fire in New Year's Day. The encore wraps the show up in excellent fashion.

Sound

Pretty impressive sound. Maybe more like 4.75 than a full 5 stars but it's nice and loud, you can hear the crowd but they're not right up front, the instruments are crisp... the only possible complaint is that the instrument and vocals, while clear and easily audible, aren't very well separated. They all feel like they're in the same layer, if that makes sense. Still, a minor comment - the sound is good enough that I'm comfortable giving it full marks!
Recording: " Awia CM 30 - Sony WM D6" - 4 stars

Audience

What a noisy crowd! They're even excited for MLK, of all songs. Check them out on Two Hearts, pure energy.

Overall

Excellent sound, fairly long setlist by TUF Tour standards, a sharp performance, and a crowd that blows the roof off the venue. What more is to want? For me personally, shows from this tour often seem kind of dull or really, really out of this world - and this show is definitely in the latter category.

Highlights:
- Wire
- The Unforgettable Fire
- Surrender
- Two Hearts Beat As One
- The Electric Co.
- Gloria (with extended intro)
