Very good debut of U2 at France... Frist 11 O Clock is missing and An Cat Dubh is incomplete, starting with fade in, but the major part of the song is here and well played
Great sound Recording: Audience microphone - 4 stars

Good surprise... short show and incomplete, but not incomplete enough to makes the overall rating falls down...isn't necessary to list the highlights because it's short and all songs were well played, by the way, great sound quality

U2, Nogent sur Marne Pavillon Baltard, 1980 december 4th, UNCIRCULATED from the SM aud MASTER
An early U2 recorded back in 1980 when they opened for Talking Heads in Nogent near Paris.
Made from the floor using a Sony TCD5 M and a couple of Phonia powered mics.
The tape is uploaded as it is, with fades in on 01 and 07; SQ is near EX (sample).
Cassette played on a Marantz SD 4051 deck (pitch adjusted), to Zoom H4, SD card to PC, Audacity editions, FLAC (TLH).
I'm not familiar with the songs.

"It was quite hard for the band to shift from having played to loops of other people to playing to loops of themselves. We felt it was essential to do that, though, because you can get very lazy with samples. They're an easy way to get the ball rolling, but you're always in danger of sounding like some basic samples with the band on top. You're in danger of being dictated to by what's there, rather than saying: 'this is just our springboard'."
