Performance

Just excellent. A lot of passion in the performance from start to finish. Bono seemed to really relish the crowd’s energy. So many snippets and even a nod to “Discoteque” and extended snippet from “Walk On The Wild Side” after “All I Want Is You”. It was great to see the band smiling & enjoying themselves, but the highlight was Bono’s speech prior to “Peace on Earth.” It was measured & powerful, as was the Bono-Edge duet for the song. “Acrobat” felt extra angsty & angry following that moment & that intensity carried through the rest of the main set. The encore set was a great release from the stretch from “Peace on Earth” to “Love is Blindness” that brought most of the audience to their feet.

Audience

Overall, the crowed seemed very energetic. Lots of memorable sing-along moments and appreciation for Edge’s solos & the various snippets. Lots of love from the crowd for Adam and Bram. I only rated this down 1/2 a star because the 100 level appeared to have more people than I expected content to sit throughout the show, at times looking more at their phones than the band during lesser known songs, but I suppose everyone enjoys a show their own way.

Overall

Powerful show. Too many details and highlights to recount everything I experienced. Having seen three shows at Sphere, this was a close second to the night before (2/17). Bono was in amazing form on Saturday, but he (& the whole band) seemed to go to whole other level for this show.
