Comments: Gloria is performed for the first time since 14 December 2005, an absence of 9 years, 6 months, and 14 days. Throughout Pride, Beautiful Day, and All I Want Is You, Bono makes reference to the recent US Supreme Court ruling in favour of marriage equality and dedicates All I Want Is You to his wife, who was in attendance. Three fans are on stage for Desire - one to film on Meerkat, one to play guitar, one to sing. Setlist and comment provided by U2gigs.com.

This is a very good show, one of the best of the tour, good performance and one of the best setlists... Tour debut of Gloria (by the way, best performance of this song the tour with Stockholm), Lucifer's Hands and All I Want Is You were played too... Whole show is good

Note: This is a 24/44.1 file set, which in most cases can't be burned directly to CD without downsampling to 16-bit. A 16-bit, CD-friendly version will be posted separately. The recording is seamless; the disc breaks above are merely a suggestion.
The third of five nights in Chicago, and the best performance so far with a bunch of oddities in the set. "Gloria" makes its first appearance in the set since nearly ten years ago at the end of the "Vertigo" tour (12/14/05), the second performance of "Lucifer's Hands" (the first being in Montreal on 6/13), and only the second performance of "All I Want Is You" on the current tour (the first in L.A. 5/31). Bono was clearly inspired by the Gay Pride parade which took place in Chicago earlier in the day, and there were multiple references to the celebration of gay rights and the power of love. Inspiring show. Bono references that several band members' sons (I think Bono's, Edge's, and Larry's) were all in attendance tonight, as well as Bono's wife.
In terms of recording quality, tonight was one of those rare nights where everything came together. I was in a direct line to one of the overhead speaker stacks, and the audience members in my immediate vicinity were pretty quiet. There's some chatter during the quiet parts, but none that I could hear intruding on the music. I'm very happy with this recording.

Got to the show with about 7 minutes to spare and into my seat due to traffic on the way from Michigan. Amazing show. Just solidifying that U2 is one of the best live performances of my time. Stage lighting was exceptional and the sound was very good. I’ll let you decide what you think of the recording with the samples. Although I had no one in front of me, I split the corner stacks on the rear of the stage and Edge’s side. I’ll be honest sound is ok, vocals sound distant. Had some pretty terrible people next to me who kept leaving for drinks, sloppy messes losing their phone at one point and security is literally helping them find it right next to me. It was a bit stressful! The DPAs did well not picking up any of their ramblings though. Very happy with that. There is a reason I never do seats at an arena show if I can help it. But that is to not take away from this performance. It was simply exceptional and the first time I have seen U2! Enjoy the recording if you do wish to download.

"You write a song because something hurts. I mean if you look at social change within America, that came from the Delta areas, the plantations or wherever. A lot of the change in America is rooted in blues music; that was what people listened to. It was the protest music of the time."
- Adam Clayton
