Comments: Initially scheduled for 2010-06-30 with Interpol as support act but postponed to 2011 on 25 May 2010 due to Bono's back surgery and rehabilitation period. Rescheduled date announced on 13 July 2010.
This show was just the second time U2 have performed in East Lansing. Their only previous visit was for a club show on the October Tour on 7 December 1981.An archive of tweets for this show can be found here. Setlist and comment provided by U2gigs.com.

The band sounded fantastic - as others have mentioned, I worried going in to the show that they would be jet-lagged from doing Glastonbury across the pond the previous weekend, but it seemed like they carried over the fire from that performance. One screw-up I did notice from being right in front of the stage on Edge's side that was hilarious: at the beginning of the second verse of "Elevation" Edge totally messes up the guitar part and Bono laughs a little bit as he sings. The look on Edge's face was priceless. Bono's voice cracked once in a while, too when he was talking to all of us in the audience, but he sung fantastically. Maybe on songs like "Stay" he struggled a bit but overall the band played great.
I'm not audiophile, but it sounds great to my ears and lets me relive the show very well. Recording: Audience microphone - 3.5 stars
Maybe it was because it was the first time the band played here since the early 80s, but the crowd at Michigan State University was fantastic. Bono, of course, made references to the school colors to fire people up and he also noted how they had played at a little club in East Lansing back in the day.
From 6am when we got in line to the end of the show, a fantastic experience. The only drawback was that the start of the show was not as dramatic due to it still being daylight at 9pm in Michigan, and the glitch with Commander Kelly's video not working! Bono laughed that off. But from Even Better on, a great performance. Highlights for me included: The whole "Achtung Baby" four-song opening, Stay, Zooropa, and Hold Me, Thrill Me. Yes, I am a 90s fan.

"We decided on instinct almost, that it was the right image for the record, but the intellectual reasons I haven't quite sorted out in my own mind. It has a spiritual aspect which this record has, and also a great deal of mystery which I like."

did you know
In the live performance of 'The Electric Co.' from 1983's Under A Blood Red Sky, Bono sang a snippet of Stephen Sondheim's 'Send In The Clowns'. U2 had failed to get permission for this 27-second snippet and later agreed to pay a $50,000 penalty as well as removing the snippet from later pressings.
