Notas de la actuación: U2's first concert in Chile. Mothers Of The Disappeared was not performed again until the band returned to Chile on 26 February 2006.

U2's tour itinerary as distributed to their crew indicated there would be a second Santiago show at this venue the previous night, 1998-02-10. This second concert never actually happened.

Actuación

This was my first show of U2. We have been waiting for years to have them on South America, and the pick a really nice warm night of February to do their debut.

Great show, with a sold out soccer stadium.

Sonido

Great audio. The show was broadcasted through public television on standard definition.

Público

Chilean audience was quite engaged in the band's performance. Bono even managed to spill a few local idioms like "cachai" - which is shorten for "did you get it?" or "did you catch it?" - which were greeted with loud whistling and cheers.

They ended the show like many others, using a relaxed and low paced song.

This time was the turn for "Mothers of the Disappeared", while being joined on stage with a group of actual mothers and relative of people disappeared during Pinochet's dictatorship. A noble and quite emotional moment to close out a superb presentation.

General

This was my first live show of U2. It was extremely special because I have been "waiting" for them for more than 10 years. And they delivered. Boy they did.

It is by far one my best memories of their on a live setting, probably second only to my first U2 concert in American soil in 2001, a few months after 9/11.
